Who is Mimi Lee?
Mimi Lee is the People’s Party of Canada (PPC) candidate for Markham–Thornhill, bringing over 20 years of experience as a financial advisor in Toronto and Vancouver. Throughout her career, she has helped families build their lives and businesses in Canada, providing financial guidance and support.
Her political journey began with lobbying the Canadian government to support Hong Kong human rights advocates facing persecution by the Chinese Communist Party.
Holding a Human Rights Consultant certification from the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights (USIDHR), Mimi is committed to advocating for her constituents, ensuring their voices are heard in the House of Commons, and always prioritizing their needs.
What has Mimi Lee done?
Engage
Alongside fellow Canadian Hongkongers, Mimi engaged with a few Members of Parliament from various political parties to raise awareness about the unfolding crisis. This experience fueled her resolve to collaborate with other Hongkongers around the globe in lobbying our governments. Together, they advocated for vigilance against the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) interference in Hong Kong. These collective efforts emphasized the critical need to defend freedom and uphold democratic principles. Ultimately, the introduction of the Hong Kong Pathway by the Canadian government offered Hongkongers an opportunity to escape the grip of the CCP and begin anew.
Empower
Her other major initiatives include Petition 2835, which called on Canada to take stronger action against foreign interference. This effort directly led to the introduction of Motion M-55, reaffirming concerns about foreign interference and urging a robust government response. The establishment of the Foreign Interference Commission in 2024 was a significant milestone. Through public hearings, the commission examined the 2019 and 2021 elections, and the subsequent passing of Bill C-70 demonstrated that change is achievable.
Mimi is an energetic person, when she has an objective, she can stay up for a long time, never stop until it’s completed. This passionate and persistence character is one of the reasons you have to choose her as your MP.
